GENERAL INTERESTS
I investigate how culture organizes interpersonal relations and interpersonal communication, as well as how it enhances our ability to adapt to our socio-ecological environments. Now I am engaging in the following topics;
CULTURAL DIFFERENCE IN SOCIAL HIERARCHY
Social hierarchy is a socially/culturally-structured system which enables collective action efficiently by clarifying vertical relationships among in-group members. Therefore, social hierarchy exists universally, though its form differs across culture. I am interested in how it differs across culture and how it enhances human adaptation.
COMPANY CULTURE AND ITS PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES
Cultural variation exists not only among nations but also within nations. To understand how the variation affects human mind, I am predominantly focusing on organizational culture in company contexts. Specifically, I am studying how company culture influences employee happiness, and what kind of individual-level/workplace-level mechanisms contribute to employee happiness.
